Learn how Underground Railroad conductor Harriet Tubman led fugitive slaves through Niagara County on their route to freedom in Canada. Program for children ages 7-12.

We’ll learn about Harriet’s life and her courageous missions to escort enslaved people from the South to Niagara Falls and across the Suspension Bridge to the “Promised Land.”

Our group will hear more about the Suspension Bridge, sample foods that could be eaten on the run, and make an 1850s craft. We’ll also learn code words and phrases needed for the trip, put together a bundle to carry our possessions, and see if we can get to Canada by overcoming problems and obstacles in our way.

The cost of this program is $10 per child. Advance reservations are required. Please call the History Center at 716-434-7433.
